Fishing Access on Montana's Jefferson River Reopens

Drouillard Fishing Access Site on the Jefferson River near Three Forks has reopened. The site was closed partially in January due to an ice jam and flooding.

Other sites in the region remain closed, including Ennis and Valley Garden fishing access sites on the Madison River. Initial assessments have found extensive damage at Ennis Fishing Access Site, with much of the site’s infrastructure destroyed and buried by sediment. Damage is still being evaluated at Valley Garden Fishing Access Site.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will work to reopen these sites as soon as conditions allow. Current restrictions and closures of FWP-managed lands and waterbodies can be found here.

Recreationists are encouraged to use caution when visiting rivers because of unseen hazards, as well as flow and ice conditions that can change suddenly. For more information about river recreation safety, click here.
