The Coastal Conservation Association of California (CCA California) will honor Dave Pfeiffer, president of Shimano North America Fishing, with the 2025 Anthony Hsieh Conservation Award, recognizing Pfeiffer’s tremendous work supporting marine conservation and ocean angling access. The 2025 Anthony Hsieh Conservation Award will be presented on May 1, 2025, at the 3rd annual gala dinner event at The Grand in Long Beach, California.

“The Anthony Hsieh Conservation Award honors an individual who has supported sportfishing in California, and has made meaningful contributions toward the protection, restoration, and enhancement of our marine resources,” said Bill Shedd, chairman of CCA California. “Dave Pfeiffer’s dedication to marine conservation and supporting angling access in California and elsewhere goes to the heart of what CCA California and this award is all about.”

A highly skilled angler and founding member of CCA California, Pfeiffer has helped lead the non-profit volunteer organization since its inception by serving as vice chair on CCA California’s state Board of Directors. He also serves on the Executive Committee and Government Relations Committee.

Pfeiffer began his career in 1988 with Shimano, then based in Irvine, California, as a regional sales manager. He served in various key positions, including president/CEO of Shimano America and now as president of Shimano North America Fishing based in Charleston, South Carolina. As Pfeiffer’s career accelerated, so has his volunteerism in support of the sport fishing community.

Pfeiffer has served for 25 years on the American Sportfishing Association Board of Directors in positions that have included chair and vice chair. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Sportfishing Policy and is currently chair of the Management Committee. Other board position service includes the South Carolina Boating and Fishing Alliance and Building Conservation Trust

Today, Pfeiffer resides in the Charleston area, but his California roots remain strong. “I began my fishing career on the West Coast, and so I will always stay connected to the ocean waters off of California,” Pfeiffer says. “With so many issues threatening the sport fishing community in California, we all need to work hard to conserve marine resources and protect ocean angling access.

“I am proud to do my part, and I am honored and humbled to be chosen as the 2025 Anthony Hsieh Conservation Award recipient.”
