Fish Florida Seeks Executive Director

The Florida Foundation for Responsible Angling, Inc., d/b/a “Fish Florida” is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to oversee the operations and help achieve the goals of the organization.

Our Executive Director, our only full-time employee, plays a pivotal role in advancing our mission, driving our growth, evaluating our programs, and ensuring the effective and proper utilization of our valuable assets. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative leader passionate about making a meaningful impact on the future of fishing in Florida.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visit FishFlorida fishing clinics and grant programs to ensure organizations are following proper
  • FishFlorida protocols and to help promote FishFlorida.
  • Manage applications for fishing equipment, grants, scholarships and fellowships.
  • Monitor all business operations to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage FishFlorida’s emerging retail business operations.
  • Manage all cash flow and expenses including running all of FishFlorida’s bookkeeping; develop
  • the annual budgets; and monitor the endowment to ensure compliance with FishFlorida’s investment policy.
  • Create and regularly post content to the website and social media.
  • Help FishFlorida and its Board of Directors achieve its 5-year strategic plan.
  • Prepare for the twice-annual Board of Directors’ meetings including drafting the agenda and
  • assembling and delivering (in advance of the meetings) the ‘board books’ which contain the
  • backup and supporting information to be considered at the Board meeting.
  • Email monthly summary updates to the Board of Directors detailing the current operations of FishFlorida.
  • Meet annual fundraising goals by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individuals, and governmental sources.

  • Collaborate with volunteers, donors and partners to host or participate in banquets and/or auctions.
  • Identify, recruit and train volunteers to help increase license plates sales and awareness of FishFlorida’s mission.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • A minimum of 5-years in the fishing industry in Florida.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of finance and bookkeeping including proficiency in QuickBooks.
  • Experienced in inventory management – which will include moving, stacking and shipping of boxed rods & reels. Some of these boxes may weigh 40 pounds and may be stacked 8 feet high.
  • Basic understanding of social media and FishFlorida’s website and how fresh content can be used to benefit FishFlorida and help us achieve our goals.
