Super Bass Tournament at Gadsden, Alabama

Gadsden, Alabama, is gearing up for one of the most exciting fishing events of the year—the 18th annual Coosa Landing Super Bass Tournament. With a guaranteed $10,000 first-place prize, this tournament is expected to attract anglers from all over, making it one of the biggest yet. Hosted by the City of Gadsden in partnership with Greater Gadsden Area Tourism, the event will take place on April 4-6, 2024, at Coosa Landing on the Coosa River.
Bigger and Better Than Ever

Tina Morrison, Executive Director of Greater Gadsden Area Tourism, shared her enthusiasm about this year’s event.

“We’ve always been a partner in this tournament, but this year, we’ve really stepped up our involvement. With a $10,000 first-place prize, we know that’s going to bring in even more competitors,” Morrison said.

Participation has steadily increased over the years, growing by about 30% annually. Last year, the tournament saw 120 boats on the water. This year, organizers anticipate nearly 200 boats, meaning roughly 400 anglers will compete.

The weekend will kick off with a mandatory captains’ meeting on Friday, followed by two full days of fishing on Saturday and Sunday.
High-Stakes Prizes

While the first-place winner takes home $10,000, the prize pool extends well beyond the top spot:

2nd place: $5,000
3rd place: $2,500
4th place: $2,000
5th place: $1,500
6th-10th place: $1,000 each

For those who don’t place in the top 10, there’s still a chance to win cash. The tournament features a “Dash for Cash” prize pool of $750, reserved exclusively for anglers who didn’t make the primary prize list.

Additionally, the event offers Big Fish prizes of $500 on both Saturday and Sunday, rewarding the biggest bass caught each day.

Tournament Atmosphere and Additional Events

Beyond the competition, the Super Bass Tournament is a community event with plenty of entertainment and camaraderie.

The weigh-ins, held at 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, are open to the public and offer a lively atmosphere. Spectators can enjoy vendor booths, sponsor giveaways, and tourism information, while anglers connect over meals and shared fishing experiences.

“Anglers love this tournament because it’s not just about the competition—it’s about fellowship,” Morrison said.

A pre-tournament dinner, sponsored by Johnson’s Giant Foods, will be held on Friday night at The Tracks. Other sponsors, including Back Forty Brewery, Adams Beverages, and Buffalo Wild Wings, will provide food and drinks throughout the weekend.
The Perfect Fishing Destination

Gadsden’s Coosa Landing has recently undergone improvements to enhance the angler experience. The bait shop now offers beer, and brand-new fuel pumps have been installed at the docks, allowing 24-hour fueling access.

More Fishing and Outdoor Fun

In addition to the Super Bass Tournament, Gadsden has several other exciting fishing-related events this spring:

Fish Fest (March 29) – Hosted by Bucks Island, this event will feature a Super Bass Tournament registration booth, where anglers can sign up in person.

For those who enjoy trout fishing, Black Creek at Noccalula Falls is currently catch-and-release but will switch to catch-and-keep (five trout per day) starting April 1.
