New Real Wool Fishing Gloves from Fish Monkey

In today’s synthetic world, modern technology usually wins out. We can make things lighter, stronger and generally better than most anything found in nature. Most of the time, anyway.

One exception to that rule is wool. You know, the stuff found on the backs of millions of sheep around the world. Turns out, this natural fiber punches well above its weight class when it comes to not just warmth but also in terms of versatility. You see, products made of wool are naturally breathable down to the fiber level. While synthetics only breathe through pores in between the fibers in the fabric, wool fibers naturally allow air to flow all the way through. And it works just as well when it’s wet as it does dry.

Thanks to its natural insulating properties, it’s an excellent performer in any cool- or cold-weather environment, and the perfect choice for a fishing glove in our opinion. Hence, the Wooly Collection was born. The comfort and fit is unrivaled and the unique characteristic of wool allows this glove to absorb up to 30 percent of its weight in water without feeling heavy or even damp. And the breathability allows that moisture to be wicked away while still maintaining its insulating qualities, keeping your hands warm, wet or dry.

From there, we took things a step further with a synthetic leather palm for extra hand protection, with a non-slip silicone print for superior grip. Handle your rods and reels, kayak or SUP paddles, and steering wheels and throttles with confidence in any condition. The knit construction moves easily with your hands for all-day comfort.

And forget about the days of scratchy wool that felt more like a Brillo pad than a natural fiber. These products are as soft as cotton while being much more comfortable thanks to those moisture-wicking properties, among others.

And there are now three models of the Wooly available: a full-finger version and a half-finger for even better dexterity, plus an all-new Wooly mitten-style glove for when things get really chilly.

Don’t neglect your head, either. We lose a significant amount of body heat through the face, neck and head so cover up with the Wooly Head wool beanie. This one’s made of heavyweight ribbed knit rag wool, which keeps you warm even when wet.

Topping off the collection is Fish Monkey’s lineup of merino wool socks. These are available in a wide range of styles and weights, from a no-show ankle sock for warm-weather fishing all the way to heavyweight over-the-calf styles for the coldest days on the water.
