Okuma/FishLab Seeks Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager represents Okuma and FishLab brands, coordinating all consumer and retail promotional efforts. The Marketing Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating all branding policies and programs. Working closely with Sales and Product development, the successful Marketing Manager will continue to drive demand of our brands, as well as work with industry partners to protect and grow recreational fishing opportunities and help achieve companywide goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage marketing and promotional team at Okuma.
  • Identify and execute all consumer marketing efforts.
  • Meet marketing department financial objectives; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain media plan, including negotiating media buys.
  • Develops strategic partnerships to drive brand awareness.
  • Manage all aspects of content creation, e-mail, social media, ads, etc.
  • Use consumer and competitive research to conceptualize marketing campaigns.
  • Leads internal efforts in developing implementation of marketing best practices for the department.
  • Leads cross department product launch communications and schedules.
  • Analyze marketing project performance and product introdution performances.
  • Manage trade shows and event organization, including development of fixtures and retail POP.
  • Develops and maintains third-party service provider relationships.
  • Oversee additional marketing content development, including PR, press releases, catalog content, and sales tools.
  • Performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the department and maintain a qualified staff of 3 direct reports.
  • Ensure the brand massaging and integrity to both internal and external audiences.

Management:

  • Participates in daily,weekly, monthly and annual planning process as appropriate.
  • Performs all duties a nd responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
  • Projects a favorable image of the companies to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all of its areas of endeavor.
  • Keeps Company President promptly and fully formed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action when necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage 3 direct reports.
  • Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned.
  • Determines standards of performance as a basis to review progress of personnel assigned and ensures proper training of personnel assigned.
  • Works closely with HR regarding any recommendations for salary adjustments. transfers, promotions and dismissals. Directs staff to cohesively support strategic objectives, directs facility line-management to enhance staff and team skills and competencies and establishes team performance objectives.
  • Defines and forecasts needed skills, tools and equipment to meet project objectives.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
  • Ability to maintain confidentially of information and data.

  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach, and influence employees with deep experience in prioritization of deliverables and tasks.
  • Communication proficiency and ability to partner and communicate with all levels of an organization from hourly associates to senior management, as well as with customer and vendor contacts.
  • Exhibits sound business judgment, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership, leading data-driven analyses, and influencing results.
  • Exhibits strong ethics and integrity with a passion for driving continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to collaborate across departments to drive optimal productivity; foster a team work environment in which diverse backgrounds are respected and valued.
  • Proven negotiation skills and demonstrated skills associated with building vendor relationships.
  • Possess the understanding and ability to discuss and explain product functions, technology and applications.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing and promotional trends, including social media, digital, video and traditional marketing.
  • Ability to present materials, possession of strong creative skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing others, with clear expectations, and performance tracking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as exceptional time management and planning skills.
  • Mid to high-level computer skills, experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel, work extended show hours, and be willing to work outside of normal office hours.
  • Must report to work at scheduled time, be able to work a minimum 8:30am to 5pm Monday – Friday schedule with additional hours as needed and maintain satisfactory attendance with limited unscheduled absences.
  • Fishing or Outdoor Industry experience required.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, or related field, and 5+years’ progressive experience as Marketing Manager.
  • Hands-on experience with the development and deployment of departmental metrics, and experience monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the department standard operating procedures. Familiarity with MS Officesuite, Adobe, SEO, etc.
  • Experience with ERP systems, NetSuite preferred.

Pay: $90,000 – $120,000.00 per year
